Steinkohlenflugasche (SFA) ist ein Nebenprodukt aus der Energiegewinnung, das in der Betonindustrie als Zuschlagsstoff Verwendung findet und den Beton fließfähiger und stabiler macht. Die Asche wird in der Arbeit zum Pfeiler in der Raummitte. Die sonst im Verbrennungsprozess aufsteigende Asche wird in einer Aufwärtsbewegung fixiert. Sie hält für den Moment in der massiven, monumentalen Architektur und ist zeitgleich schon im Begriff zu Zerfallen.

In the work, the ash becomes the pillar in the center of the room. The ash, which would typically rise during the combustion process, is fixed in an upward movement. It holds, for the moment, within the solid, monumental architecture while simultaneously on the verge of decay and instability.
